What is Jin Shin
Jyutsu?
Jin shin jyutsu®
physio-philosophy
is the ancient art of harmonizing
body, mind and spirit with gentle touch. It facilitates balance in the body's
energy systems, which promotes health and well being. Jin Shin Jyutsu is
intended to be a complement to conventional healing methods that induces
relaxation, reduces the effects of stress, and assists the body to heal
itself.Imbalance, disharmony,
illness, and disease occur when the body's energy is blocked or disrupted. Jin
shin jyutsu facilitates the restoration of physical, emotional, and spiritual
balance, health and well-being by restoring the harmonious flow of energy. The
practitioner applies touch to designated spots on the body. This is done over
clothing and involves no massage. The practitioner's hands act as "jumper
cables" to restore the "battery of life" allowing energy to flow unobstructed
through the body so that the balance and wellness can be restored.
This simple, yet incredible technique
was "accidentally" rediscovered by Jiro Murai in Japan in the early 1900's.
Jiro was born into a family of medical doctors. He became ill with a terminal
disease that could not be treated with any known medicine. When death seemed
inevitable, Jiro asked to be taken to a cabin in the mountains for seven days.
While there, he meditated on all the teachings of the masters he'd learned and
began practicing jin shin jyutsu on himself. On the seventh day, his fever
broke and he felt completely healed. He was filled with gratitude and vowed to
spend the rest of his life researching this fantastic art.
Jiro discovered the earliest written
records of jin shin jyutsu in an ancient Japanese text, the Kojiki, that
indicated that jin shin jyutsu was widely practiced before the birth of the
Buddha and Moses. It was passed on orally from master to apprentice. Jiro
began teaching this method to Mary Burmeister who brought it to the USA in the
1950s.
FAQ about Jin shin jyutsu
What conditions does jin shin jyutsu treat?
Jin shin jyutsu is a mind, body, spirit method of
balancing energy flows, so it can be used to treat any physical, emotional or
spiritual imbalance. Clients report that it helps speed healing time after
surgery, stops pain, enhances spiritual growth, reduces swelling, shrinks
cysts, reduces stress and anxiety, and much more.
How quickly does it work?
This varies from person to person and from session to
session. Most of the time positive effects can be felt within a few minutes.
Sometimes it may take up to eight hours to experience relief. Sometimes
the client experiences a better mood, but not the physical effect that they
intended to get.
How long does the effect last?
This also varies from person to person. Sometimes the
effects are permanent. Sometimes it lasts up to eight hours.
What are the risks and side effects?
There are no side effects. A jin
shin jyutsu practitioner can do no wrong because the practitioner is only the
"jumper cable" that allows the body to heal itself. If illness is a
way of maintaining dysfunction, there is risk that recovery may mean learning
how to live without the illness or dysfunction.
How often should I have it done?
It is not necessary to have it done more than twice a
day because the results of one session last about eight hours. Sick people
should have shorter treatments. People who seek wellness can have regular
sessions every other week or so.
Does it help everyone?
No. Mary Burmeister said, "You can't heal the body
with the same thinking that made it sick." That means that if the client is
not willing to let go of the negative belief that created the illness, healing
cannot occur. Improvement may happen, but the illness will come back. It's
like cancer being in remission and then the patient has a relapse. For
instance, if you believe it is advantageous to be fat because you are afraid
of intimacy and fat people don't have to worry about being perceived as
attractive by others, it's not likely that you will lose weight until you get
rid of that belief. Jin shin jyutsu can help to overcome physical, emotional,
and spiritual imbalance, but it is not a cure all.
Does it help for the terminally ill?
Yes. It can help those who are ready to cross over do
so peacefully and without pain. It can help those who are not ready to cross
over find their way back.
Do you make house calls or hospital visits?
Unfortunately our insurance does not cover us for
work that goes on outside of the office so we cannot make house calls or
hospital visits.
How long does a session last?
Up to an hour. It depends on your body and your state
of health.
Can I do it for myself?
Yes, jin shin jyutsu is designed to be primarily a
self-help technique. It is accessible to all people and can be done by anyone
with very little instruction. In fact, self-help is encouraged between
sessions to maximize results. Self-help instructions are provided with office
visits.
